When I plan a vacation, I am all about the money.  I don’t like to waste it, but I like the places I stay to be nice.  I usually book my trips online and I always find cheap hotels that way.  I have gotten pretty good about finding the best deals for my vacations and my family still has a great time.  It is more about being together as a family than anything else.  It gives us a chance to bond and enjoy each other’s company.  We usually come back energized and we always talk about when we will do it again.

I am planning a nice road trip for me a few of my old college buddies.  We are heading out west and we plan on having an awesome time.  None of us have a ton of cash to throw around, so we are doing are best to find cheap hotels in many of our old stomping grounds.  We are all going to stay in the same room and just have a good time remembering the good old days.  We haven’t been together in about ten years, so we are all looking forward to a great time just being together in some of the towns we used to travel to.

Last fall, our local community college was offering a learn german course to anyone who wants to attend. I signed up for the course because I thought it would be interesting to learn a foreign language. The course did not last very long, but I learned a lot in that short time. The teacher was patient with each one of us and took the time to help us when we were struggling. They are going to offer a more advanced course this winter and I can’t wait to attend. The same teacher is teaching this course, so that makes it even better.

I have never really tried to plan out a vacation before. Usually I am going with a lot of other people that take care of this and I just go along for the ride. However, I have decided that I want to go to Vancouver on my own, so now I am trying to figure out where to stay and what I would most like to do while I am there. It seems like there are so many options for hotels in Vancouver I am having trouble narrowing them down. I think I will have to figure out where they are located on a map so I make sure to pick one with a good location.

The other type of incentive is based on “breakage” model. “Breakage” refers to the fact that more money will be made from people not using the certificates than will be lost from those who do. For example, if a company sells 1,000 incentive certificates for $10 each ($10,000 total) and only 5% (50) of the people use them, costing the incentive company a total of $100 per person (=$5,000), they have made a profit of $5,000. The cost is often offset on breakage certificates by the association of a timeshare company offering property tours to certificate holders. Many of the incentive companies receive a kickback for each person they send to the property who agrees to and takes a tour. The breakage is often created in the terms and conditions with strict stipulations that require recipients to do things such as send in a postal money order within a very short period of time.

Going on vacation to a city you have never been to before can be risky.  I am always afraid I am not going to get the best accommodations for the money I spend.  When I look online I the hotels present photos of their property but often the photos are of the restaurants or the ballrooms.  These are areas I may never even see when staying at the hotel.  Right now I am checking into hotels in Australia.  We have yet to decide which towns we will visit but Perth keeps finding itself on the list.  The Perth Hotels do seem to be a good value for the money and I am sure we will have great time there.

A few months ago my husband and I had occasion to make the trip to Boston to see the fall foliage and explore the city.  Because my husband has always dreamed of attending MIT, we took the train out to walk the campus.  At some point that evening though, we needed a quick rest and some directions, and dropped into the Marriott Cambridge to ask someone for directions.  The lobby was big and beautiful and the staff was so helpful even though we weren’t guests.  We were very pleased, and would love to stay there for a couple of days if we ever get the chance to be back in the beautiful city of Boston. 

We decided to take a weekend trip to Maine and researched a number of rockland maine hotels where we found the Ledges By The Bay overlooking Penobscot Bay in Glen Cove, Maine. When we got to the hotel we were amazed by the panoramic ocean views and the scenic vista of the surrounding islands. After a busy day of hiking locally, we decided to go back to the hotel and get some rest before dinner. The bed was large and comfortable. Next, we got ready and headed out to a seafood restaurant, which was offering free appetizers. The food was excellent. Back at the hotel we asked about places to shop and the clerk told us about several boutiques in the area. We are happy that the clerk was so knowledgeable about the area. The Ledges By The Bay is close to everything and is centrally located between Camden and Rockland, Maine. My wife and I spent a day shopping in the local towns nearby. We brought several things back from our trip.
