Commentary On “Doctors Struggle to Evaluate Whether a Patient’s Pain Is Real”

Dr Sapers comments on people in pain reflect the effort of modern medicine to blame the victim- as the moral health and medicine mental laziness of medicine continues unabated in pain care. JOe doesnt say on average over 50% of people with migraine wait 5 years for a diagnosis. Inm a recent study over 80% of physicians indicated they didnt feel able to diagnose pain. And Joe- by the way algometers measure pain. We all know that neurologists dont like people with headaches- even though tthats what their most likely to see in their practice.

For 3400 years opioids have been used for pain- youd think in the post genomic era modern medicine would come up ith something better. In 1805 morphine was the most used medication for pain- in 2010 morphine was the most used medicine for pain. JOe would like to blame the victim- people in pain for the failure of doctors to obtain education in pain care- and the failure of medicine to take the most common reason why people seek medical care – pain- more seriously. But doctors cherish their freedom to treat pain and people in pain as more valuable then to hear the dried voices of people in pain. And so the massive failure to assess and treat pain will continue so long as medicine values freedom more then humanity to treat people in pain with respect and humanity
